On Saturday, Ane Olabarria, a professor and researcher at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), took part in Cadena SER alongside three disability activists who had also experienced school violence. In the interview, they shared extremely harsh experiences and talked about the deep psychological scars that bullying can leave, many of which are carried into adulthood.
Olabarria, who was also a victim of violent incidents, explained that these experiences shaped her research vocation and led her to firmly advocate for teacher training based on scientific evidence with social impact. Her contribution highlights the urgent need for schools to have real tools to prevent, detect, and support victims of school violence.
Among these training approaches, she emphasized Dialogic Teacher Training and the Brave Club – Zero Violence as key proposals for moving toward violence-free schools.
